New year is a key time for people to re-evaluate their lifestyle and make changes and Livewell's Now You Can campaign aims to empower people to do just that! 

We're really proud to have supported over 15,000 people in Derby to lose weight, stop smoking and improve their health. 

If you know anyone who could benefit from our services, please share this article.  To qualify, people need to be registered to a Derby GP practice and have a BMI of 30 or over for our free weight loss programme or be a smoker to access our stop smoking service.  We also have a free healthy lifestyle programme called Live IT for children aged five to 17, which offers lots of fun-packed activities and interactive family-friendly healthy eating sessions.

Re-joining conditions

Former clients can re-join Livewell’s weight loss programmes from 6 January 2020 – 28 February 2020.  The offer is only open during this time period for the first 100 clients who apply and book their activation meetings.

Clients who wish to re-join will need to contact the Customer Team by emailing livewell@derby.gov.uk or calling 01332 641254 – see opening hours below.

  • Monday – 9am-5pm
  • Tuesday – 9.30am-5pm
  • Wednesday/Thursday – 9am-5pm
  • Friday – 8.30am-3.30pm

Former clients who had a leisure centre membership (for any amount of time as part of their 12 month programme) will be unable to have a second free gym/group exercise membership when re-joining.  However, they can access all Livewell exercise sessions and swimming at Queen's Leisure Centre.

Former clients will be given the opportunity to take up the discounted Wellness membership which includes gym and group exercise sessions at Council leisure facilities as long as they haven’t had a paying Derby Active membership in the last 12 months.

Former clients who haven’t had a paying Derby Active membership in the last 12 months can take out a Wellness membership, even if they’ve had a previous 12-month Wellness membership upon completing a commitment card, which will be explained when re-starting the programme.  Clients that already have a live Wellness membership will be given the opportunity to extend the 12-month membership to the end of their Livewell programme.  

Former clients will be unable to re-join if:

  1. They failed to attend three or more sessions without letting us know during a previous Livewell programme and/or they failed on more than one occasion to respond to our contact attempts.
  2. They are a Livewell volunteer.
  3. They have been discharged from the programme due to aggressive, violent or inappropriate behaviour towards our team.
