From client to volunteer to team member - Andy's story is truly inspirational!
Andy quit smoking and lost three stone in just under two years and went from couch potato to running coach in just seven months! Sounds impressive? All the more so when you consider that he had his spine fused in his early thirties. Now in training for his second marathon, Andy is living proof that anything is possible when you’re determined to succeed. Find out more about our smiley team member.
My Livewell journey
I started Livewell as a buddy to my partner, Julie and then joined myself in 2018 to quit smoking. I’ve been smoke free for three years and during that time I’ve lost about 3 stone and transformed my fitness. Before Livewell I barely did any exercise, now I run four times a week, play golf and exercise in my garage.
My role with Livewell
I used to volunteer at two health hubs - Whitecross on a Tuesday evening and Boyer Street on a Thursday lunchtime. I am also a run leader with Derby Joggers and support two jogging sessions a week.
In June 2021, I joined the Livewell team as an advisor and I'm really excited to get stuck in. I'm hoping my own experiences will help motivate people to believe in themselves and their ability to change.
