Livewell Co-ordinator, Paul McGinty is a big believer that many health problems can be treated and prevented with regular exercise and helping people to find a form of physical activity they enjoy brings him a lot of job satisfaction. As a fan of the 90s comedy, Father Ted, Paul is fondly referred to by the team as Father Jack, though we’re happy to report that his language is less foul. Read more about proud dad and family man, Paul:

Livewell Treatment Manager, Rob Smithers has seen some big changes to the service since he joined during its inception in 2011.  Find out more about the man in charge of the UK’s best Health and Wellbeing initiative, from teaching children to light fires (safely!) to defying the medical odds to complete the Great North Run in a banana costume….

The Livewell team is taking on the MOVEmber challenge this year to raise awareness and get people talking about men’s health. 

We're challenging clients, colleagues and Derby people to walk or run 60km during the month of November, as an individual or as a team effort, to raise awareness of the 60 men we lose to suicide every 60 minutes across the world.

Experience

I have a degree in Sport and Exercise Science and Level 3 qualifications in Personal Training and GP Referral.  After completing my studies, I worked for Derby City Council as a fitness instructor before joining the Livewell team in 2014.

Smiley animal lover, Gemma is passionate about wellbeing, banishing meat and dairy from her diet.  As a Livewell advisor, Gemma is keen to demonstrate the benefits of healthy eating and keeping active to support clients to hit their targets.

Experience

I have worked in a variety of roles within the health and fitness industry mainly specialising in working with women and adults referred by their GP. I have lots of experience in helping a wide variety of people who all have their own individual needs and goals. 

Livewell’s volunteer programme has been recognised as a leading local example during National Volunteer Week.

Experience

Whilst completing my degree in Health & Exercise Science, I volunteered on a healthy lifestyle project with a local authority.  After University, I worked on a range of health and wellbeing initiatives, encouraging people to have a healthier lifestyle involving families, other health professional, schools and adults.

Explore a new world on an advenurous led walk for the whole family on Saturday 30 June at 10.30am in Darley Park and the surrounding area.

The walk, which lasts around two hours, has been organised by Livewell in partnership with the Friends of Darley Open Spaces and Darley Park and offers fun activities and interesting facts.

Children can hunt for colourful stone bees and become Nature Dectectives, discovering Darley Park's very own Bughingham Palace and getting a certificate and goodie bag for their efforts.
