Stop smoking

Patients with heart complications and respiratory conditions are being offered life-saving support at the Royal Derby Hospital to help them quit smoking.

Derby Teaching Hospitals is working closely with Livewell to ensure those admitted to hospital after a cardiac event are offered smoking cessation advice.

Much-needed support is now being given to patients on the Trust’s cardiac wards, following a successful pilot scheme run throughout last year aimed at those admitted to the Royal Derby Hospital’s respiratory wards.

Change your life with Livewell

Sue Banks is one of thousands of people in Derby to kick the habit with the help of Livewell.

Sue has shared three things that really helped her to stop smoking, and would advise other people to take on-board:

1. Keep busy – fill every spare moment with things that keep your hands busy but try to avoid over eating.

Ana from Sinfin joined Livewell desperate to stop smoking having relapsed many times before.  With tailored support from one of our specialist advisors and a free stop smoking treatment that worked really well for her, Ana is delighted to be smoke free for over a year.
