People who live, work and study in Derby are being challenged to walk during Derby’s very first Walking Festival.

The Walking Festival which takes place between the 18th – 26th May coincides with National Walking Month and helps people take their first steps to a more active life.

Move More Derby and Active Derbyshire have produced an activity tracker to allow users to record their efforts in order to win prizes.

The tracker is available free online and is easy to use.  Any walk, of any distance and in any location, which is recorded will automatically be entered into the prize draw.  Anyone who lives, works or studies in Derby are eligible to enter so sign up now!

There are loads of prizes available throughout the week including INTU shopping vouchers and National Trust vouchers.

Katy West, Move More Co-ordinator said “walking is a great and simple way to get active and get some fresh air. The Derby Walking Festival provides the opportunity to participate in a variety of themed walks from social, historical and nature, for all ages and abilities and to connect with others. The activity tracker is a free tool designed to help individuals to see just how far they have walked and inspire people to move more”.

Martha Riggs, Place Lead at Active Derbyshire said “this is a great opportunity to get out for a walk of any kind throughout the week and be able to measure how far you have gone! There’s an exciting week of organised walks through the walking festival, but don’t feel you have to participate in one of these to track your walks.”
