My alarm goes off at:

It is usually set for 7am. I am certainly a snoozer especially during the winter months!

I prepare for the day ahead by:

I plan for my day ahead the night before. This can include making sure I have everything ready to take with me, my lunch prepared, gym kit/netball kit packed and any equipment or resources I need for the day. I start the day with a bowl of porridge with blueberries or overnight oats.

I can’t leave the house without:

Two simple things, my phone and my bottle of water!

On an average day, I:

Deliver NHS Health Check appointments at Florence Nightingale Community Hospital. I usually have six appointments, each lasting approximately 45 minutes. Alongside this, I also deliver Stop Smoking appointments and attend events in workplaces and the community.

The best part of my day is:

Helping people and making a difference. This could be providing them with tips and advice on how to improve their Health Check results or signposting them into other areas of the Livewell service which they could benefit from.

And the worst part:

Fortunately, this does not happen too often, but it has to be IT issues, especially if I cannot access the software needed to upload the Health Checks!

Why I love what I do:

Every client I see is different, so the job is always varied with different results to discuss. I like supporting people to make lifestyle changes, if necessary, but it is also enjoyable to see some clients getting the results they had hoped for. The NHS Health Check is aimed at preventing cardiovascular disease and it is pleasing to see those people who want to look after their health.

I relax/recharge after work by:

If I am not playing a Netball match or going to Netball training after work, you will find me in the gym taking part in some classes. Usually this is spinning and/or a circuits-based class. During the summer evenings I tend to go out on my bike instead as I much prefer to be outdoors!

I go to bed at:

Too late! I try to be asleep by 11:30pm but quite often it is more towards midnight.

Why I started delivering NHS Health Checks:

Previously I used to deliver Health Assessments for Bupa and really enjoyed the role. I wanted to use this experience to go on to work for a community service. When I saw the role advertised for Livewell, I knew it would provide me with more varied opportunities and allow me to develop my skills in other areas such as smoking cessation.  That was over seven years ago and I'm still enjoying the role now!
