Professional musician and new contact team member, Libby is passionate about using her skills and own experiences to help improve people’s mental wellbeing.  With years of coaching customer service teams, she’s fitting in nicely with the ‘can do’ ethos of our contact team and is looking forward to supporting people to get started on their lifestyle journey.

Experience

After achieving Grade 8 Vocals at 17, I got my first job as a singing teacher at the Yamaha Music School in Derby. Since then, I’ve worked part-time across the Midlands for Stagecoach and the Yamaha Music School franchise, minus the years I spent studying Music at The University of Liverpool. I currently coach a small number of children through ABRSM & Rockschool Graded Examinations from my home studio in Oakwood. Now my son has started nursery, I have availability for adults who are looking to try Singing for your Mental Wellbeing which is firmly where my passions lie!

As well as my music side-hustle, I spent seven years in Sky TV’s outsourced Customer Contact Centre in Pride Park. For most of those years, I served as a Development Coach for the advisors, and thrived on getting the best out of even the most stubborn agents and customers!

Job Role

I am part of Livewell’s Customer Contact Team, and we’re the first point of contact for our clients, whether you’re new to the service, need to talk about an upcoming appointment, or if you have any queries or concerns, we’re here to help you. We also manage our Facebook and Twitter pages to keep you informed of Livewell’s sessions, provide tips and tricks on improving your wellbeing, and engage with our clients.

Me in three words

Compassionate, strong, chaotic.

Favourite meal

Anything cooked by my South African Father-in-law.

My passion/interests

Aside from music, I love to cook and eat. My partner Dylan and I will find any excuse to host friends for dinner, and I’m on a mission to try food from as many cultures as possible because it’s the quickest way to get transported to another place! My severe lack of hand-eye coordination stops me from being sporty, but I do love the outdoors and enjoy walking and camping with my family and our Springer Spaniel, Penelope.

Best achievement

The continual effort I put in to being a good mother and role-model for my son Harry, who is disabled.

What you might be surprised to hear about me

I’ve had problems with my mental health since I was a child. The Libby you speak to now is confident and outgoing, but it’s taken many years of training my mind to work with me and not against me to get to where I am today. It has also been a huge motivator to help others, and I am very much looking forward to being able to assist Livewell in making a difference to Derby residents’ wellbeing.

My top lifestyle tips

Short breathing exercises! I start my day off with this to get me into a positive headspace, and for a minute any time I feel stressed.

Singing in private. In the car, your bedroom or bathroom, anywhere that you feel comfortable, and belt out your favourite songs. It’s good for your physical and mental health!

My favourite quote

You have survived 100% of your worst days.
